Well, probability is the foundation for statistics; and statistics is the basis for a large proportion of data science. Understanding probability helps you determine the distribution of random variables in your data, create random samples for analysis, and perform experiments with your data to test hypotheses.

In this lesson, we’ll explore random variables and how their probability can be calculated. We’ll also look at distributions of random values for both discrete and continuous variables.
